At MahWengKwai & Associates, our culture is to learn from one another. In addition to working with their masters, our pupils gain experience whilst working with experienced partners, lawyers, litigation clerks and admistrative and management staff in order to gain a holistic understanding of the legal profession and all that it entails. Depending on your area of interest, we will structure your learning and development with us by giving you a wide exposure of dispute resolution, corporate and commercial experience.

In addition to pupillage opportunities, the firm also has an attachment programme for individuals who are keen to get a taste of life in a law firm.

Testimonials from our pupils

“The 9 months of pupillage that I’ve experienced in MahWengKwai & Associates (MWKA) were nothing short of eye-opening and worthwhile. The firm excels both in ensuring clients have the best access to legal solutions and also making the office a great place to work in.

Working in a firm where respect and fairness is emphasised made the whole pupillage experience here pleasant and meaningful. The people in this firm are great colleagues to work with, from the support staff to the senior lawyers, it is a strong testament to their priority in getting and retaining the right talents.

Pupils are involved at each stage of a case from beginning to end, hence the learning curve is steep but also very rewarding. Not only have I gained necessary legal skills and knowledge, I’ve also learnt valuable business development skills by being involved in the firm’s various activities.

Pupils are also exposed to the many practice areas of the firm. To ensure continuous professional development, the firm encourages learning and presents opportunities to develop and establish one’s expertise in practice area(s) of interest.

Technology is also at the heart of what MWKA does and believes in. Employees are given access to ample tech systems and tech support, ensuring seamless workflow and also less stress dealing with unresponsive or dated systems.

Overall it was a great experience working at MWKA, I’d highly recommend this firm to anyone looking to kickstart or enhance their legal journey.”

“Chambering at MahWengKwai & Associates is a great experience. Here, you are exposed to the different areas of practice engaged by this firm. Although my main focus is on Corporate and Conveyancing, I still assist the lawyers in litigation work to develop my interest in litigation. The tasks given may be hard at times, but at MahWengKwai & Associates, you are never left alone to handle it. At times it can be very intense, but we are all well rewarded. I believe that it will give me the opportunity to out perform and excel.

The firm also encourages the members to participate in pro-bono work. Recently, we have engaged ourselves in a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) with Kota Damansara Burmese Refugee Children’s School. Most importantly, this firm is a friendly place to train and practice and I can say that I have enjoyed my chambering period at MahWengKwai & Associates.”
