– 1985, Established

The firm was established by Dato’ Mah Weng Kwai in 1985 after 12 years in the Judicial and Legal Services. Dato’ Mah built a strong reputation for civil and corporate litigation, arbitration and criminal matters.

– 2010, A Legal 500 firm

The firm is recommended for the first time by The Legal 500 in Dispute Resolution and Corporate and M&A. Today, the firm is ranked Tier 2 in Real Estate & Construction, Tier 3 in Dispute Resolution and Tier 4 in Labour & Employment.

– 2015, Dato’ Mah returns

Dato’ Mah Weng Kwai was appointed to the High Court as a Judicial Commissioner in 2010. He was confirmed as a High Court Judge in 2011 and elevated to the Court of Appeal in 2012. Dato’ Mah returned to the firm as a consultant after his retirement from the judiciary in February 2015.

– 2018, ALB Award Winner

The firm wins the Asian Legal Business Award for Sports Law Firm of the Year. Prior wins include Litigation Law Firm of the Year (joint winner with Lee Hishammuddin Allen & Gledhill) in 2015 and Boutique Law Firm of the Year in 2016.

– 2019, >50 people

The MWKA team has grown and continues to grow from strength to strength over the years, with its present team of 50 persons, including 20 lawyers.
