We are proud to announce that MahWengKwai & Associates’ Managing Partner Raymond Mah has been recognised as one of Malaysia’s Top 100 Lawyers.
The 2021 A-List, compiled by Asia Business Law Journal, is a listing of Malaysia’s best private practice lawyers, based on extensive research (conducted by its experienced editorial team), and nominations received from in-house counsel based in Malaysia, as well as Malaysia-focused partners at international law firms.
The list of 100 lawyers represents 0.5% of the total number of practicing lawyers in Malaysia. According to the Malaysian Bar, there are 20,384 practitioners in 2021. Of the 100 lawyers on the A-List, 43 are dispute resolution lawyers and 57 are lawyers in corporate and commercial practices.
Of the 40 law firms in the A-List, 4 are small law firms (1 to 5 lawyers), 19 are mid-sized firms (6 to 30 lawyers), and the remaining 17 are large law firms (>30 lawyers). The law firms with the most numbers of lawyers in the A-list are Shearn Delamore & Co (8), Rahmat Lim & Partners (7), Wong & Partners (7), Adnan Sundra & Low (6), followed by Chooi & Company + Cheang & Ariff, Skrine, Zaid Ibrahim & Co, with 5 lawyers from each firm.
According to the Asia Business Law Journal, the A-List was compiled following the recommendations by “a large number of professionals, mainly experienced in-house counsel and corporate legal managers”.
The law journal added that the lawyers who made the list were not just those who were familiar with the law and how transactions worked, “but those who also have a deep sense of commercial and business operations – to balance the value and risk in undertaking transactions, and then break down advice into simple, easy to understand terms”.
We congratulate Raymond on his applaudable achievement in joining the ranks of other highly esteemed and noteworthy legal practitioners under Malaysia’s Top 100 Lawyers!
