3:00 pm – 3:45 pm The ABCs of Land Acquisition

About this talk

What should a landowner do when notice is received that all or part of the land is being acquired by the government? Lands in Malaysian are constantly being acquired under the Land Acquisition Act 1960 in order to accommodate the development of the country especially for mega infrastructure developments including highway, rail and road projects such as the MRT3, LRT3, EKVE, ECRL, etc. Compulsory land acquisition can be a complex and time-sensitive process. Hence, it is important for landowners whose lands are being compulsorily acquired to understand their rights to adequate compensation under Article 13 of the Federal Constitution. This talk will equip landowners with essential knowledge of the legal proceedings and procedures involving compulsory land acquisition and the latest updates on land acquisition matters in Malaysia.
