3:00 pm – 4:00 pm From Seizure to Prosecution: Caught For Evading Customs Duties
About this talk
If “uncustomed” goods are found in your car, shop, warehouse or home, could you be charged for smuggling?
Many assume that smuggling offences only involve organised criminal activity or large commercial shipments. In reality, one can be investigated by the Customs Department in a wide range of situations, including bringing goods into Malaysia without proper declaration, importing or possessing items that require permits or are subject to duty without complying with such requirements.
Once goods are seized by the Customs Department, matters can escalate quickly. One may face investigations, compound offers, forfeiture of goods, and, in some cases, even criminal prosecution in court.
Join us for this online talk where we will walk you through the prosecution process and explain the legal options available when dealing with the Customs Department’s enforcement actions.
The talk will be delivered over video conference using Zoom.us. You can either view the talk from your web browser or download the Zoom app.
