Joyce Wong

Joyce read law at the University of London and completed her Bar Training Course at Cardiff University. Joyce is a member of the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple and was called to the Bar in England in 2022, and to the Malaysian Bar in 2023.

Joyce practised in areas of medical negligence, constitutional law, defamation, corporate fraud, debt recovery and contractual disputes. Joyce’s current practice area is mainly medical negligence. She has been involved as a junior counsel and second-chaired multiple hearings and trials, in subordinate courts, High Courts and the appellate courts of Malaysia.

Medical Negligence

• Assisted in advising, representing and strategising individuals/patients in medical negligence case spanning various medical specialties including obstetrics and gynaecology, general surgery, orthopedics, emergency medicine, radiology, rehabilitation, dentistry, ENT, paediatrics, cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, dermatology, oncology etc.
• Assisted in advising and representing hospitals and healthcare practitioners in a wide range of cases.
• Assisted in cases involving the Malaysian Medical Council and Malaysian Dental Council on behalf of patients and/or doctors.

Corporate Litigation

• Assisted in a complex appellate court hearing pertaining to a significant corporate dispute, which involved a contested sum exceeding RM30 million, encompassing the legal principles of separate legal entities, constructive trusts and tracing.

Other Litigation Experience

• Advised clients and successfully settled a potential million-ringgit financial dispute pre-litigation.
• Assisted in a constitutional law (anti-hopping law) hearing at the Federal Court.
• Represented clients in MACC investigations and proceedings.
