Mun Wei graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from the University of Manchester, UK and obtained her Certificate in Legal Practice (CLP) in 2008. She was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2009 after completing her pupillage at Cheang & Ariff.

Mun Wei has been practising in the area of civil litigation since then, and has handled a wide range of cases including contractual, estate and intellectual property disputes.

Currently, she is particularly active in the areas of general litigation, land disputes and estates including both contested and uncontested matters such as will-writing and grants of representation.

Estates

  • Administered an estate worth more than RM130 million on behalf of an Executor client, while handling the contested estate action in 2 High Courts as well as the Court of Appeal
  • Actions for and against removal of Executor
  • Claims concerning validity and/or interpretation of Will

General Litigation

  • Debt recovery actions on behalf of an SME manufacturer
  • Contested banking litigation on behalf of banks
  • Represented a Hong Kong client in a dispute between shareholders, involving claim of conspiracy to injure, and application for ex parte injunction
  • Contempt of Court proceedings against parties causing the publication of newspaper articles which made sub-judice comments
  • Defamation action on behalf of a non-governmental organisation against a prominent newspaper
  • Dispute between property developer and purchaser, for breach of deed of mutual covenants, governing conditions for construction of a bungalow on vacant land, and subsequent appeal to the Court of Appeal. Involved extensive arguments on the laws of equity

Land Disputes

  • Claim by a landowner to recover rightful ownership of his land which was fraudulently transferred to a company
  • Claim for compensation for, as well as contesting the acquisition of, land acquired for construction of the SUKE Highway
  • Claim by landowner against public bodies, regarding category of land use
